England has been playing cricket since 1877, now for the first time in 147 years it has done wonders like Team India
This miracle was seen on the second day of the Nottingham Test match between England and West Indies, where hosts England scored 425 runs in the second innings with the help of strong centuries from Harry Brook and Joe Root. In this way, they gave West Indies a target of 385 runs to win.
Cricket was born in England and it spread this game to many countries of the world. Many great cricketers have come from this country. Despite this, when it comes to winning titles or records, England seems to be behind most countries. There are many such records in Test cricket being played since 1877, which other teams have achieved long ago but England is still far away from them or is reaching there after so many years. Something similar happened in the Nottingham Test where England scored more than 400 runs in both innings of a match for the first time in cricket history, whereas Team India, Australia and Pakistan had done this feat many years ago.
For the first time in 147 years
England, playing the first match in the history of Test cricket, scored more than 400 runs in both innings of a match for the first time in 147 years. On the fourth day of the Nottingham Test, England scored 425 runs in their second innings. Ben Stokes' team had also scored 416 runs in the first innings. In this way, they were successful in achieving this feat for the first time. However, Australia was the first to achieve this feat about 86 years ago. Australia had scored more than 400 runs (411, 427/6 declared) in both innings against England in Nottingham in 1938.
Not only Australia, India has also done this feat, that too more than once. Team India had scored 407 and 407/9 (declared) runs in the Kolkata Test against Pakistan in 2005. After this, India had scored 426 and 412/4 (declared) runs against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad in 2009. Pakistan had also done this feat in both innings of the Faisalabad Test against India in 2006 (588, 490/8 declared).
Big target given to West Indies
If we talk about the Nottingham Test, on the fourth day, former England captain Joe Root and young batsman Harry Brook were in full form. Both returned unbeaten on the third day and while playing further on the fourth day, both scored excellent centuries. Brook scored his first and overall 5th Test century in England. He played an innings of 110 runs. After this, Root scored the 32nd century of his career and equaled many legends. Root scored 122 runs and led the team to a strong score of 425 runs. In this way, England gave West Indies a target of 385 runs to win.
