New Zealand gave a victorious farewell to its legendary fast bowler Tim Southee on the fourth day of the third and last Test against England and made many records. The Kiwi team won against the England team by a huge margin of 423 runs. England became the first team to lose by a margin of more than 400 runs in a calendar year.
In February, England had to face defeat against India by 434 runs. England were out for 234 runs against the impossible target of 658 runs given by New Zealand. Captain Ben Stokes could not bat due to a hamstring injury. For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner took four wickets for 85 runs. He took a total of seven wickets in the match and scored 76 and 49 runs in both the innings. Harry Brook of England was declared the best player of the series. In England’s second innings, Jacob Bethel scored 76 runs and Joe Root scored 54 runs.

England’s Joe Root overtook Pakistan’s Javed Miandad in scoring the most runs against New Zealand. Miandad has scored 1,919 runs and Root has scored 1,925 runs against the Kiwi team. Root is also the leading run-scorer against India in the Test format with 2,846 runs. Root has scored 1,006 runs in the red ball format in New Zealand and has become the first overseas player to achieve this feat. Root is also the foreign player to score more than 50 eight times in New Zealand.
