Patna, July 11 (HS). Engineer Narendra Kumar Singh, resident of Mainagram village of Mahishi police station under Saharsa district, has taken over as a member of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority. The Disaster Management Department had issued a notification to this effect on July 08.
His appointment has been made under sub-section 2 (e) of section 14 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 (Act 53 of 2005) for the next five years. Singh, who was the former vice-president of Bihar Pradesh Janata Dal (U), has a lot of experience of working in administrative, social and political fields. During his studies at Bihar Engineering College, Patna, he was very active in student politics. Being a resident of Kosi region, he has seen disasters, especially the devastation caused by floods, very closely.
Narendra Kumar Singh has been a member of the State Commission for Upper Castes. He has also successfully handled the responsibility of Director of Bihar State Warehousing Corporation. He has also been a former member of the Passenger Service Committee of Indian Railways.
