Energy Minister gave instructions to ensure zero load shedding

New Delhi, April 2 (HS). During various meetings, to meet the summer power demand in the country, Union Energy Minister RK Singh has directed to ensure zero load shedding during the summer season. According to a statement issued by the ministry on Tuesday, the Union Minister has also directed to make mandatory a uniform technical minimum loading of 55 percent of the unit capacity for all coal-based power generators. During the two-day meeting, he said that the operation of gas based capacity will be reviewed.

Senior officials from CEA, NTPC, Grid India, Gencos, PFC and NVVN were part of the deliberations in the meetings chaired by the Union Minister. Union Electricity Secretary Pankaj Aggarwal was mainly present in the meeting. The Energy Minister repeatedly reviewed the power capacity position of all thermal power plants facing partial curtailment with a view to ensure maximum availability of thermal capacity.
