According to Thane Police, accused Akshay Shinde, arrested under POCSO Act with multiple cases in Badlapur East Police Station, was on judicial remand in Taloja Central Jail. Central Crime Investigation Cell, Crime Branch, Thane Police officers and team took the accused to Taloja Central Jail with a transfer warrant for arrest. According to initial information, accused Shinde was detained by the police team from Taloja Central Jail at around 5.30 pm and when he was being brought to Thane at around 6 pm.
According to the police, when the police vehicle reached Mundra bypass at 6.15 pm, the accused Akshay Anna Shinde took out the service pistol from the waist of the squad police officer Saponi/Nilesh More and fired three rounds at the police squad, one of which hit him. When a police officer of the Self Defense Force fired at the accused, the accused Akshay Anna Shinde was injured and was brought to the hospital where he died.
