Embattled China begins punitive war games revolving around Taiwan

BEIJING, TAIPEI: Embattled China has begun punitive war games over Taiwan. Weapon-laden warplanes have begun flying over Taiwan in a bid to intimidate it into curbing separatist activities, with powerful warships circling the island nation since Thursday.

Taiwan's newly elected President Lai Ching-te has angered mainland Communist China by talking about Taiwan's full sovereignty and security in his inaugural speech. On the third day of taking oath, China has started punitive war games. It is flying heavily armed warplanes over the Taiwan Strait as well as Taiwanese islands in that strait. Surprisingly, people living in Taiwan and its occupied islands are not worried or scared at all. They say. China does this often. So we changed the show.

However, Taiwan has made full preparations for defense. In her speech, Tai had called China a part of the policy of intimidation. An oath was also taken to fully protect the sovereignty of the island nation. It was also said that such mock drills conducted by China expose the warlike mentality. She further said that only 23 lakh people of Taiwan can decide about the independence and sovereignty of our country. In protest, China said that only 1.4 billion people of China can decide the future of Taiwan.

Observers say that the world's first superpower, America, is committed to protecting Taiwan against China. Its allies are equally committed to this. Taiwan has no need to fear China.
