Bihar flood: Gandak river is in spate in Bihar, due to which the Champaran dam located on the left bank of the river in Bagaha block of West Champaran district broke. Engineers and employees of the Water Resources Department are busy repairing the embankment.

Giving information in this regard, Additional Secretary of the department Naveen said that Flood Control Division, Bagaha is accused of negligence in monitoring the embankment and coordination with the district administration. Executive Engineer Nishikant Kumar has been suspended on this charge. He said that the water level in the lower flow areas of Gandak and Kosi is continuously rising. Protective work is being done by marking seepage and laying pipes on the embankments of both the rivers.

Seepage and rain repair work was done on time at 20 places on both the embankments of Bagmati in Sitamarhi and Sheohar districts. The right embankment of Bagmati near Madhakaul village under Belsand block of Sitamarhi has been damaged to a length of 35 meters. It is being repaired. Additionally, overtopping is prevented by installing dowels on relatively low height spurs constructed on the east-west Kosi embankments. A 50 meter long dowel is also being built on the Western Kosi Dam.

Farmers and people allege that engineers are taking sand bags from one place to another. The breach in the dam that caused the incident was not investigated. The dam has broken due to increase in the water level of Gandak river. Traffic is closed due to dam breaking. Let us tell you that the dam was built to save this area. Crops are getting damaged due to dam breaking due to sectional depression. The Water Resources Department is keeping a close eye on the broken dam.

Bagmati river dam broken in Shivhar
The dam in Triyani Chhapra broke on Sunday night due to the surge in Bagmati river. Due to this, the flood crisis in the areas of Triyani has become more serious. Flood water is spreading rapidly in residential areas. There is an atmosphere of fear among the people. Leakage was seen in the embankment at two places in Tariyani Chhapra and at one place in Kundal village. Even after a whole day's effort, the embankment near Triyani Chhapra School collapsed by 20 feet on Sunday evening at 7.30 pm. Under the leadership of Triyani Chhapra police station in-charge Rohit Kumar, police and SDRF teams have started relief and rescue operations.

The dam of Bagmati river in Belsand of Sitamarhi broke at around 8.30 pm on Sunday night. Water was dripping near the spot since morning, which the villagers made tireless efforts to stop; But eventually the dam broke. Due to dam breaking, water is spreading rapidly in the village.

The water of Bagmati can also rise to Sauli, Rupauli, Olipur, Kanhauli villages via Belsand and Parsauni. The spread of water may also increase gradually in Bhatauliya of Belsand, Patahi and Sirkhauli of Parsauni and Khirodhar of Parsauni.
