Varanasi, 18 September (HS). The Women and Child Development Department is constantly making efforts so that children can now get better education near their homes. Under the supervision of the Chief Development Officer, primary education is being given in Anganwadi centers to strengthen the ground base of early education of the little ones. The Anganwadi Center operating in the MP Adarsh Gram Nagpur (Arajiline) in the district was renovated and prepared as the first model Anganwadi Center of Kashi in the year 2021. This model Anganwadi center has become a different example for the entire district. Since then, 201 model Anganwadi centers have been prepared in the district, on the walls of which artworks of children's choice have been engraved, so that children can get knowledge of counting, fruits and animals.
District Program Officer (DPO) Dinesh Kumar Singh says that Anganwadi centers are being rejuvenated with the efforts of the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the cooperation of development partner institutions. Such Anganwadi centers are being prepared as model Anganwadi centers. The objective of developing these model Anganwadi centers is to provide a better environment to the children, increase their interest in schooling, and ensure their overall development through early education. The DPO said that there are a total of 3914 Anganwadi centers in the urban and rural areas of the district, out of which 201 centers have been prepared as model Anganwadi centers and the work of making 500 Anganwadi centers as model centers is in progress. By December 2024, the number of model Anganwadi centers in the district will exceed 700.

The DPO said that special facilities have been provided for the convenience and development of children in these model Anganwadi centers. These include facilities like smart TV, play school for playing. Tables, chairs, and picture books are also present at the center. Along with this, LPG cylinder, water purifier, electrification of the center room, toilet have also been arranged. Special attention is given to ensure that children get education in a playful manner and they can develop better in their early years.
