Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said regarding the increase in electricity prices that the state government is conscious of the interests of consumers. Electricity rates in Uttarakhand are cheaper than other states and the annual increase is also quite low.
BJP state in-charge Manveer Chauhan said in a statement issued on Friday that the price of electricity in the state has been increased by 6.92 percent, which is less this year as compared to last year. Last year in 2023-24 there was an increase of 9.64 percent. The price of electricity is revised every year and the increase is approved by the Electricity Regulatory Commission. Due to the increase in the prices of electricity received from power producers, the Regulatory Commission has taken the decision of increase.
Describing Congress's statement as ridiculous, Manveer Chauhan said that electricity rates are revised every year and this is not a new tradition. Even during the Corona period, the government has given relief to the people within the time limit in electricity or other recovery. Keeping in mind the common people, the government has increased the electricity rates less. At the same time, Uttarakhand is providing cheap and uninterrupted electricity to its residents and industrial sector.
