Electricity bill: Consumers will get big discount in paying electricity bill.

Electricity Bill: The government has given the gift of Dussehra to lakhs of consumers stranded in illegal colonies and in need of cheap electricity. The government will help consumers living in declared and undeclared illegal colonies for electricity infrastructure works.

This will make it easier to use electricity by taking connection at government rates. On the instructions of CM Dr. Mohan Yadav, two different schemes have been implemented for this on Thursday.

This scheme will benefit not only households but also industrialists. There are thousands of industrialists in the state who are not paying their electricity bills on time due to economic recession and industries not running properly. They have outstanding electricity bills worth crores of rupees. The government will now waive their surcharge and give them an opportunity to pay the bill in installments.

Udyog Mitra Scheme: 20% lump sum payment

20% of the total outstanding amount has to be deposited in lump sum. The remaining amount will be allowed to be deposited in 3 to 5 installments over a maximum period of 3 years, but for this a bank guarantee will have to be given. The surcharge amount will be completely waived. The industrialists who have filed cases in the court will have to withdraw the cases to avail the benefits of the said scheme.

More than 10 thousand illegal colonies

There are more than 10 thousand illegal colonies in the state. Of these, 7981 illegal colonies have been identified. In these, the infrastructure for electricity system has not been developed as per the standards, hence the electricity companies are not providing connections to the residents. The builders have taken connections in their own names, from where these residents get electricity at expensive rates.

In this, 75 percent discount will be given in the total cost of infrastructure construction. Only 25 percent of the cost will have to be deposited. This benefit will be available to illegally declared and undeclared colonies. In which connections will be given to individuals and groups. Builder, colonizer and society will not get its benefit. Welfare associations of civic bodies and colonies will have to apply to the electricity companies. This benefit will be available only for a period of two years.
