Chandigarh, September 17 (HS). 29 thousand policemen and 225 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed across the state for the assembly elections to be held on October 5 in Haryana. For this, a strategy has been prepared with the superintendents of police of all the districts. Checkpoints have been set up in 155 interstate and 143 internal areas in the state.

Haryana Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor told in Chandigarh on Tuesday that more than 29 thousand policemen of Haryana Police and 225 companies of paramilitary will be deployed for the elections. 70 companies of paramilitary have already been deployed in different areas of the state, the remaining companies will reach Haryana in the coming days. Along with ensuring compliance of the model code of conduct in the state, the police is keeping a strict vigil on every inch. Kapoor said that every aspect related to it has been studied closely to maintain law and order in the state during the assembly election process. He said that a total of 20 thousand 629 polling stations have been set up at 10 thousand 495 polling stations for voting in the state on October 5, on which adequate number of police force will be deployed.

Apart from this, 3460 polling stations have been considered sensitive (critical) and 138 polling stations have been considered vulnerable and additional police force will be deployed at these polling stations. Security arrangements will be tight at these booths. He informed that 155 interstate and 143 intrastate checkpoints have been set up for the elections where strict vigil will be maintained by police teams. Along with this, 480 flying squad teams, 419 static surveillance teams and 32 quick response teams have been formed in the state. 1128 patrolling parties have also been set up to maintain law and order in the state and ensure compliance of the model code of conduct, which are patrolling day and night. One lakh people deposited their weapons in police stationsDirector General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor informed that a total of one lakh 32 thousand 225 armed licenses have been issued in the state, out of which one lakh 5014 licensed weapons have been deposited in police stations due to elections.
