Calcutta, May 22 (HS). The Election Commission has removed the Additional District Magistrate of Basirhat and the District Election Officer of Kolkata South. On Wednesday, the Commission has also said that neither of the two people can participate in the election work.
According to commission sources, IAS officer Divya Longanathan was holding the post of Additional District Magistrate of Basirhat in North 24 Parganas while IAS officer Rashmi Kamal was the District Election Officer in South Kolkata. The Commission has removed both these IAS from the post. The commission also said that both will not participate in any election related activities.
However, it is not clear what exactly caused the removal of these two IAS officers.
Earlier, the Commission had removed West Medinipur Superintendent of Police Dhritiman Sarkar last Monday. In his place, 2016 batch IPS officer Kuldeep Suresh has taken charge as the new Superintendent of Police. He was the DC (Central) of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.
Not only Dhritiman, Purulia SP Abhijit Banerjee has also been removed from his post by the commission. Apart from this, three more police officers have been removed by the commission. All three police officers are from East Medinipur district.
