Ranchi, September 23 (HS). The Election Commission of India team reached Ranchi on Monday morning. The team led by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also includes Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. The members of the Commission, who reached Birsa Munda Airport at around 9 am, were welcomed by senior officials of the state led by Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar.

On reaching Ranchi, the Commission first held a meeting with the representatives of the national and state level recognized parties in Jharkhand in the context of the assembly elections and interacted with them in detail. During this, the Chief Election Commissioner also appealed to all the political parties for cooperation in conducting the upcoming assembly elections in a fair manner and achieving the target of better voting percentage.

Various enforcement agencies presented their action plan before the commission

After the meeting with the political parties, the Commission reviewed the action plans of various enforcement agencies directly involved in the election work such as Income Tax Department, Excise Department, GST, Reserve Bank, Forest, Transport, Civil Aviation, Narcotics etc. at the state level. An appeal was made to all the agencies to gear up to give their best performance for free and fair elections.

Instructions given to CEO and SPNO

In the course of the Commission's review, after the above two review meetings, the Commission reviewed the election related issues point by point with the state's Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar, State Police Nodal Officer A.V. Homkar and CAPF Nodal Officer. The three officers presented their respective action plans through presentations. After the review, the Commission gave necessary guidelines to everyone.

The commission held a meeting with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state

In the series of review meetings held throughout the day, the Commission finally held a meeting with Jharkhand Chief Secretary L Khiangte and Director General of Police Anurag Gupta. Informing them about the inputs, suggestions, reports etc. received from political parties, enforcement agencies and state officials, the Commission directed them to take timely initiative on the related issues and take necessary coordination steps. During this, the Senior Deputy Election Commissioner, Deputy Election Commissioner and other officials of the Commission were also present.

Information was given by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer that tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday, a review will be done with all the divisional commissioners, Zonal IGs, District Election Officers of all the districts, all DIGs, all Superintendents of Police.

After the meeting, the party representatives told the journalists that we have requested the Election Commission to conduct the elections in fewer phases. They said that there are many big festivals coming up in the state, keeping them in mind, the date of the elections should be decided.

Bangladeshi fake voters should be investigated: Rakesh Sinha

Rakesh Sinha, who was present in the meeting from BJP's side, said that 'we have put forward many strong points in the meeting. We told the commission that Bangladeshi infiltrators have increased in Jharkhand. These infiltrators should be dealt with. Voter IDs made by giving fake Aadhaar cards should be investigated. A mechanism should be developed so that fake Aadhaar cards can be caught. Rakesh Sinha said that our party's investigation report shows that there are many booths in Jharkhand where voters have increased by 123 percent, whereas the commission has been saying earlier also that voters increase by 15 percent in five years. We have demanded an investigation into this as well.

Elections should be held in December, government will be able to complete its term: Supriyo Bhattacharya

JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that we have requested the commission on several points. We have told the commission that the government was formed in December. It is festival time in the state. It is also foundation day. In such a situation, if the commission decides to hold elections keeping all this in mind, then the government will also complete its term. Also, we told the commission that the situation in the state has changed. In such a situation, central police forces should be deployed in minimum numbers. If very necessary, state police personnel should be deployed in equal numbers. Also, we told the commission that hate speech should be banned in election meetings. During the election campaign, the star campaigners of the party should get equal opportunity as other parties. Also, we have told the commission that elections should be held in minimum phases. Because, the longer the election goes on, the dirt will increase.

Elections should be held in one phase after November 15: Vinay Sinha Deepu

Vinay Sinha Deepu and Shashi Bhushan Rai presented the party's point of view as representatives of the Congress. Vinay Sinha Deepu said that we told the commission that elections should be held in one phase in the state. Festivals should also be taken into consideration. Lord Birsa's birth anniversary is on 15 November in Jharkhand. Elections should be held only after that. We also told the commission that BJP leaders in the state are spreading hysteria, they should be banned. Such leaders spreading hysteria should be identified and banned from coming to Jharkhand.

Elections should be held in different phases: Harsad Ansari

AJSU representative Harsad Ansari, after returning from the meeting, said that we have requested the commission to conduct the elections in a phased manner. We have requested for fair elections. We have also told the commission that the elections should be held on the dates fixed for the elections.
