East Champaran, October 23 (HS). The houses of more than half a dozen people were burnt to ashes after an electric wire broke and fell in the Mahadalit colony in Pachbhidwa Ward 10 of Panjiarwa Panchayat of Sugauli police station area of ​​the district.

The incident is said to have happened after midnight on Tuesday, around 2 am. It was told that at the time of the incident, people were fast asleep in their houses, when they saw the flames coming out of the house and came out and made noise. Due to which the people nearby People gathered and tried to extinguish the fire. But people's efforts failed and the houses, grains, clothes, jewellery, food grains, cash and an Apache bike of eight people were burnt to ashes.

In this incident a buffalo was badly burnt and injured. On Wednesday, on the information of the fire victims, the zonal personnel reached the spot and took information about the damage caused by the fire.

Among the victims, eight people from Mahadalit families including Bhuar Paswan, Sanjay Paswan, Ajay Paswan, Hari Paswan and Subhash Paswan were reported to have had their houses and all their belongings burnt. CPM leader Braj Kishore Gupta, among the victims, distributed rice, potatoes, pulses, turmeric powder. Chilli, mix powder and other food items have been distributed.

The affected families have demanded compensation from the electricity department. They said that there is no support after the house is burnt. Now we will have to live under the open sky. The government should provide houses to all the people as soon as possible. Sugauli CO Kundan Kumar said that the report of the fire has been taken by the circle officer. According to departmental rules, immediate relief will be provided to the fire-affected families.
