Patiala: Air pollution has started due to increasing cases of stubble burning. In the last three days, cases of stubble burning are continuously increasing. With this the air level has started increasing from green to red mark. Nearly 300 cases of stubble burning have been registered in three days, which is the highest number so far this season. These days, the air level in some districts has started affecting the health of people suffering from respiratory diseases.
According to the data received, only 33 cases of stubble fire were reported across Punjab on Wednesday, which increased to 123 on Thursday and 143 on Friday. At the same time, compared to Wednesday, heavier elements were found in the air till Saturday afternoon. By the afternoon of October 12, the Bathinda air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 189, which was 108 on October 10. Amritsar Sahib's AQI was 80 on Thursday, which reached 142 by Saturday afternoon. Khanna's AQI was 81 on Thursday and 116 till Saturday afternoon.
Adverse effects on patient's health
Air with an AR quality index of 0-50 is considered good, with minimal impact on humans. An AQI of 51-100 is satisfactory for sensitive people with breathing difficulties. An AQ of 101-200 can cause shortness of breath in people suffering from lung, asthma and heart disease. 201-300 AQI is bad for human health, prolonged exposure to this air causes respiratory problems in most people. Air with an AQI of 301-400 is very bad for humans and prolonged exposure can cause respiratory illness. Air with an AQI of 401-500 affects even healthy people and severely affects people with existing diseases. Air quality is measured daily through the Air Quality Index, which indicates how clean or polluted the air is and its potential impact on health.
