New Delhi, 07 August (HS). Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday once again rejected the opposition's claim of removing the preamble from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks.
Union Education Minister Pradhan, while talking to reporters in the Parliament premises, said that today in the Zero Hour, the Leader of the Opposition made some statements beyond the facts. Citing a newspaper, he alleged that NCERT's sixth class books had the subject of Preamble, which has now been removed. I clarified this matter with the permission of the Speaker of the House. Recently new textbooks of sixth class have been released. In all the books, subjects like Preamble of the Constitution, Fundamental Duties, Fundamental Rights, National Anthem etc. have been included in more books than before.
Accusing the Congress of disregarding the Constitution, he said that due to its frustration, the Congress has done the most work of breaking and demeaning the Constitution. These people are engaged in spreading lies and confusion.
Pradhan said that we expect that a person holding a responsible position like the Leader of the Opposition should at least not mislead the House. We put the facts before the society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is committed to the Constitution. It is clearly stated in the National Education Policy that the basic elements of the Constitution will be brought into the textbooks in various ways. I condemn this move of the Congress Party and they should apologize to the country.
It is noteworthy that Congress National President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge today accused the Central Government of removing the Preamble from NCERT textbooks. Kharge said that there is news that the Preamble of the Constitution has been removed from NCERT books. It used to be printed in the books earlier. The Preamble is the soul and spirit of the Constitution.
