The troubles of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren are not decreasing. Now a new twist has come in the 8.86 acre illegal land scam case worth more than Rs 31 crore.
ED has now included the bills of refrigerator and smart TV as evidence in this case. ED has presented this bill along with its charge sheet filed against Hemant Soren and four others.
In this case, ED has said that in February 2017, both the appliances, a refrigerator and a TV, were purchased in the name of two family members of Santosh Munda. A refrigerator was purchased in the name of Munda's son and a smart TV was purchased in the name of his daughter.
Munda told the agency that he has been living on this 8.86 acre land for 14 to 15 years to take care of Hemant Soren's property. The ED used Munda's statement to refute Soren's claim that he had no connection with the land.
The agency also rejected Rajkumar Pahan's claim on the land. ED had taken this land in Tunch on March 30.
The investigating agency obtained these bills from both the dealers and presented them in the special PMLA court of Justice Rajeev Ranjan in Ranchi on April 4.
The ED claimed that soon after the first summons was issued to Soren in the case in August last year, Pahan had written a letter to the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner saying that he and some others owned the land. The previous change made in the name of other owners should be canceled to save them from being evicted from their property.
The ED has alleged that the state government returned the land to Pahan on January 29, two days before Soren's arrest, so that the JMM leader could retain control and possession.
According to the investigating agency, this land is basically a movable property and under normal circumstances this property cannot be transferred or sold to anyone. Munda and Pahan were the owners of this land.
The ED has claimed that the immovable property was later sold by the original allottees to some persons but Soren evicted them and took control in 2010-11.
