ED raids Martin’s office: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has again raided the house and office of Santiago Martin, one of the biggest donors of money to political parties and a scamster through lottery scheme. After the Madras High Court gave permission to action against Santiago, popularly known as the Lottery King, six ED sleuths have raided his house and office in Coimbatore besides the house and office of his son Tyson and son-in-law Adhav Arjun.
Earlier Tunch had assets worth more than Rs 450 crores.
Last year, ED Martin’s Rs. Property worth more than Rs 450 crore was seized in Tunch. Martin’s money laundering came to light in March this year when details of the electoral bonds came to light. Martin’s Future Gaming bought electoral bonds worth more than Rs 1300 crore and provided massive funds to political parties. The Madras High Court had ordered the ED to investigate after the Tamil Nadu Police recently filed an FIR against Martin and others.
Anonymous cash worth Rs 7.2 crore found
During the ED raid, anonymous cash worth Rs 7.2 crore was recovered from Martin’s house in Chennai. In which the trial court ordered to close the case. But the Madras High Court canceled the trial court’s order and directed re-investigation.
900 crore scam with Sikkim government
Martin has also been booked for allegedly defrauding the Sikkim government of Rs 900 crore in lottery sales in Kerala. Last year his assets worth Rs 457 crore were confiscated. In Kerala, Future Games committed mis-selling by guaranteeing lottery prizes to the Government of Sikkim in 2009–10.
