EC removed DSP of Dera Baba Nanak, MP Randhawa complained, sought names of officers from the government for new appointment, know the matter

The Election Commission has taken major action in the matter of not taking appropriate action on the complaint of threatening voters by gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya, lodged in Kurukshetra jail in Haryana, during the by-election on Dera Baba Nanak seat. The Commission has removed Dera Baba Nanak DSP Jasbir Singh. Apart from this, a panel of names of three officers has been sought from the Punjab Government for the appointment of new DSP in his place.

Apart from this, a letter has also been written to Haryana Jail Department. Besides, a request has also been made to keep a close watch on Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The area around the accused has been asked to investigate thoroughly.

Who complained?

Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Dera Baba Nanak Congress candidate Jatinder Kaur’s husband filed a complaint with the Election Commission on Friday. His allegation was that gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya, lodged in Kurukshetra jail in Haryana, is threatening people through video calls.

He said he has brought the matter to the attention of local police authorities. But no action is being taken in this regard. He demanded investigation into the matter. Along with this, people’s safety should also be taken care of. He alleges that he brought the matter to the notice of the police but no action was taken. The accused has the support of the government.
