Earthquake News: Japan, America and Indonesia shaken by earthquake, such intensity was recorded

Earthquakes were felt at different times in America, Indonesia and Japan on Saturday. The highest intensity was measured in the earthquake that occurred in Japan. The intensity of the earthquake in Japan was 6.9 on the Richter scale, while in Indonesia its intensity was 6.5 and in America it was only 2.9. Indonesia and Japan lie on the earthquake-prone Pacific Ring of Fire. Strong earthquakes often occur in these countries. According to the latest information, there is no news of any casualty in any country due to the earthquake. However, some homes in Indonesia and Japan were definitely damaged.

6.5 magnitude earthquake hits Indonesia

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the coast of Java island on Saturday. The United States Geological Survey recorded the earthquake's magnitude as 6.1, although it was later downgraded to 6.5. Earthquake tremors were felt in the capital Jakarta, forcing people to evacuate buildings. Typically, earthquakes last about 5 seconds, with peak periods lasting between 10–15 seconds. According to BMKG, there was no tsunami warning. The USGS said the earthquake's depth was 68.3 kilometers (42 mi).

6.9 magnitude earthquake hits Japan

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Japan's Bonin Islands, or Ogasawara Islands, on Saturday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. The earthquake occurred at 5.36 pm. The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake struck at 0836 local time (0836 GMT). Its depth was measured at 540 km below the surface. The epicenter of the earthquake was located at 27.9 degrees north latitude and 140.0 degrees east longitude on the west coast of the islands, about 875 km south of Tokyo, Xinhua news agency reported. Light tremors were also felt in central Tokyo. No tsunami warning has been issued.

2.9 magnitude earthquake in America

A small magnitude 2.9 earthquake struck New Jersey last night, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGC). According to the USGS website, the small earthquake was not felt by many people because it caused only mild shaking. The quake came just weeks after a magnitude 4.8 earthquake struck New York, New Jersey and the Northeast. There were reports of minor damage, including water main breaks and gas leaks, in the city near the epicenter of the April 5 earthquake. Some homes in New Jersey were declared at risk due to possible earthquake damage.
