Earlier the female candidate had taken a risk of Rs 25 thousand, now the police department will have to pay one lakh

Jaipur, March 14 (HS). Rajasthan High Court, considering wrongly measuring the height of a female candidate in Constable Recruitment, 2023 as serious, has imposed a compensation of Rs 1 lakh on the police department. The department has been instructed to pay the compensation amount to the applicant within a month. The court said that the report of the Medical Board of AIIMS Jodhpur proved that the height of the applicant was 152.3 centimeters and the police department had measured the applicant's height as less than 152 centimeters in the PST test. On which the applicant took the risk and got her height measured again by the medical board on the condition of compensation of Rs 25 thousand, in which her height was found to be more. In such a situation, the applicant was deprived of the selection process without any reason and he had to come to the High Court without any reason. Therefore, the department should give him Rs 1 lakh as compensation. Justice GR Meena gave this direction on the petition of Sapna, a resident of Narnaul tehsil of Haryana.

In the petition, advocates RP Saini and Aamir Khan said that the applicant had applied for constable recruitment in CID Jaipur. His physical test took place on 27 December 2023 and his height was measured to be less than 152 cm. Challenging this in the High Court, the applicant gave an undertaking in the High Court that his height should be measured again and if his height is less than 152 cm, he is ready to deposit Rs 25,000 as compensation. After the undertaking of the applicant, the High Court asked the Medical Board of AIIMS Jodhpur to get her height measured. On the instructions of the court, AIIMS Jodhpur measured his height as 152.3 cm and presented the report in the High Court. Considering the fault of the department, the court has imposed a compensation of Rs 1 lakh on it.
