E-vehicle revolution in India overtakes China with 65 percent growth in three-wheeler sales

Electric Three Wheeler: India has made a lot of progress compared to China in terms of sales of e-three wheelers. According to a report by The International Energy Agency, the sales figure of e-three wheelers in India in 2023 was 5.80 lakh, which is more than China. A decline in sales has been seen in China.

The report said that due to government incentives, the e-vehicle sector in India is going through a revolution. In 2023, one in every five three-wheelers sold in the world will be electric. Of these, 60 percent sales took place in India. Stating that sales of e-vehicles are witnessing strong growth across the world, the agency said emerging markets are witnessing strong growth in demand for electric vehicles.

Sales of electric cars will continue to grow and are expected to reach 17 million worldwide in 2024, accounting for twenty percent of total global sales of all types of cars. The electric vehicle market in India has achieved a significant milestone last year. This has been possible due to the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAM-TO) subsidy scheme provided by the government.

Sales of e-three wheelers in India will increase by 65 percent to 5.80 lakh in 2023 compared to 2022, which is more than China. In comparison, sales in China fell by eight percent to 3.20 lakh. India's e-two-wheeler sales to grow by 40 percent in 2023 Along with China and Asian countries, India is emerging as the global leader in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler market.
