Supreme Court CJI Retirement: Supreme Court Chief Justice DY Chandrachud will retire on November 10. He has five days left as CJI before retirement. In these five days, the CJI bench will give its verdict on 5 important cases.
In such a situation, all eyes will be on the decision of this case. Actually, the Supreme Court is currently closed due to Diwali holidays. Now the court will open on November 4. CJI Chandrachud's bench is going to give its verdict in many major cases between 4th and 8th November. Since the Supreme Court will be closed on November 9 and 10 due to Saturday and Sunday, November 8 will be DY Chandrachud's last day as CJI. Here we are telling about those five cases on which the CJI will give the verdict.
1. Madrasa Act case
Among the five cases on which the CJI has to give decision, the case of Madrasa Act is the most important. In the case of Madrassa Act, the Supreme Court had reserved its decision after hearing on October 22. On October 22, the Supreme Court heard petitions challenging the Allahabad High Court's decision declaring the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board Act 2004 unconstitutional.
2. Minority status of AMU
The talk of giving minority status to Aligarh Muslim University has also been going on for a long time. During the last hearing in this case, a bench of 7 judges headed by CJI DY Chandrachud had reserved its decision. Now it remains to be seen whether the CJI is in favor or against giving minority institution status to AMU.
3. LMV License Case
The last hearing in the LMV license case was held on August 21. At that time the Supreme Court had reserved the decision. The controversy in this case is whether holders of a light motor vehicle license are permitted to drive transport vehicles of the light motor vehicle class weighing more than 7,500 kg. The court has to decide whether the holder of a light motor vehicle license is allowed to drive a transport vehicle of the same category. This issue has led to controversy over insurance claims related to accidents involving such vehicles.
4. Cutting of trees in the Ridge area of Delhi
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court regarding illegal cutting of trees in the Ridge area of Delhi. It told how trees were cut in violation of Supreme Court orders. CJI Chandrachud's bench has to give an important decision in this matter also.
5. Redistribution of wealth
A nine-judge bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is also hearing Article 39(B) of the Constitution, which deals with redistribution of wealth for the common good. This political debate regarding property distribution was started by Congress and then the matter reached the court.
