Ahmedabad: Sompura Handicrafts, Ahmedabad's first art gallery showcasing the ancient Indian tradition and culture, was inaugurated with the blessings of Dwarka Sharada Peethadheeswar Jagadguru Shankaracharyaji Param Pujya Swami Sadanand Saraswatiji.

Mehulbhai, from the Sompura family, builders of magnificent temples across the world, has designed the art gallery keeping in mind Indian architecture, sculpture and iconography and integrating science and technology.

The aim of starting this art gallery is to spread awareness and understanding about Indian architecture, culture and literature of ancient architecture among the art loving youth and budding artists of the state of Gujarat.

Sculptures of magnificent Hindu temples and Jain shrines from ancient times in India and around the world have been making invaluable contributions to the architecture and construction of the palace. In this gallery, the sculptors of Sompura have created delicate, graceful, beautiful forms, immortal sculptures with the help of solders and hammers on a rough and hard material like stone.

On this occasion, Art Gallery Sompura Handicrafts Manager Mehulbhai said, “We feel very honoured and honored as the Art Gallery is being inaugurated today with the blessings of Dwarka Sharada Peethadheeswar Jagadguru Shankaracharyaji Param Pujya Swami Sadananda Saraswatiji.”

Through this art gallery, we aim to spread awareness about our art and culture among people interested in art, culture and ancient architecture across Gujarat and to introduce the youth of the state to our rich heritage, culture and architecture. I am confident that our unique initiative will receive a very positive response from people across the state.
