Monsoon has arrived in the country. It is raining continuously in the southern parts of India. Although severe heat continues in the plains, people have got some relief from the heat due to intermittent rains. The arrival of southwest monsoon in Maharashtra has brought much relief from the scorching heat and severe water crisis in many parts of the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Goa, Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Sikkim till June 10. Kerala is likely to receive heavy rains till June 9. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are also likely to receive rains on June 9 and 10.
According to the Meteorological Department, on June 9, some areas of western Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience severe heat due to heat wave. Heat wave is likely at some places in Punjab, eastern Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha. On June 10, 11 and 12, heat wave is likely at some places in western Uttar Pradesh and Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, eastern Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.
According to Skymet Weather, heavy to very heavy rains are likely at some places over Coastal Karnataka, South Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan and Goa with moderate rains during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rains are likely at isolated places over Kerala, Lakshadweep, Marathwada and parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Light to moderate rains may occur over Sikkim, Northeast India, South Interior Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and parts of Tamil Nadu.
Light rain is likely in parts of Odisha, South Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Western Himalayas. Thunderstorm accompanied with dust storm is likely in parts of Western Rajasthan, Eastern Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. Light rain accompanied with dust storm is likely in Delhi and adjoining areas. Heat wave is likely in some areas of Northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and Odisha.
