Four people died in separate incidents of drowning in the Narmada Canal passing through Kalol in Gandhinagar district, while five people are missing. Five people of the same family living in Hariom Nagar of Naranpura area of Ahmedabad have drowned in the Dholka sub canal of Narmada passing through Ranchodpura. A boy named Dhanraj Singh started drowning while taking bath and while trying to save him, all five people drowned in the water. Of these, Dhanraj Singh died and the search for others is going on.
On the other hand, seven friends from Ahmedabad went to take bath in the Sabarmati river near Bhat. Among them, Hardik Chaudhary of Chandkheda and Haresh Chaudhary of Ghee Kanta died due to drowning. Two minor friends living in Dholakuwa village have drowned in the Sabarmati river passing near Ambod village of Mansa taluka.
Three youths who went to take bath in the check dam after enjoying Holi in Bhavnagar have died. Three people have lost their lives due to drowning in the lake in Vadtal of Kheda. Two people have died due to drowning in Babaram river in Banaskantha. A young man has died due to drowning in a canal near Samarkha, Anand. One person has died due to drowning in Kabirpur lake of Mahisagar. Four people have died due to drowning near Narmada Canal in Kalol. Three minors have died due to drowning near Mansana Amboda.
