Moradabad, March 28 (HS). In view of the Lok Sabha elections, a total of Rs 3 lakh 40 thousand has been recovered from two people in Kundarki and Bilari by the Static Surveillance Team during checking at the check post barrier. Apart from this, police teams have also seized illicit liquor worth about Rs 45 lakh.

Voting will be held in Moradabad on April 19 under the Lok Sabha elections 2024. With the announcement of elections by the Election Commission, the Model Code of Conduct has also become effective. At the same time, the police administration is working vigorously to conduct the elections in a fair and peaceful environment. To prevent the use of money power in elections, the administration has formed six flying squads (FST) and one static surveillance team (SST) for each police station area. A magistrate along with an SI and four constables have been deployed in these teams. A woman constable has also been kept in each team.

SP Traffic Subhash Chandra Gangwar, nodal officer of Police Election Cell, said that SST teams are regularly checking by installing checkpost barriers in every police station area. Yesterday, the SST team, which was checking in Kundarki police station area, recovered two lakh rupees from a car rider. The car rider could not give any satisfactory answer regarding that amount, hence that amount has been confiscated. Similarly, Bilari's SST team has also recovered cash worth Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand. A total of cash worth Rs 3 lakh 40 thousand has been seized in both the cases. Its report is being prepared and sent to higher officials. Along with stopping the flow of money, police teams are also cracking down on those supplying illegal liquor and intoxicants.

Nodal officer SP Traffic Subhash Chandra Gangwar said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal liquor and intoxicants worth about Rs 45 lakh have been recovered from across the district. FIRs have been lodged in the concerned police stations against the people from whom these materials have been recovered and action is being taken as per rules.

In this regard, SSP Hemraj Meena said that our teams are continuously working to ensure that no person can influence the elections with money or intoxicants. Anyone who tries to influence voters through money power or other means will be dealt with strictly.
