Due to lack of timely rains, farming is lagging behind in Dhamtari district. Well-off farmers are transplanting paddy with the help of motor pumps. The paddy crops of the farmers who depend on rain are now turning yellow and red due to lack of water. The nurseries of some farmers have also started drying due to lack of irrigation water. If there is no good rain in the region within three to four days, then the crops of the farmers will suffer a lot.
16 days of Ashad month have passed, but there has been no satisfactory rainfall in the region. This year for the first time, it is raining only for 10 to 15 minutes, so water is not stagnating in the fields. While most of the days of Ashad have passed. Farmers with Bota paddy crop have sprinkled seeds in their fields due to the possibility of rain. The seed has become a paddy plant. Due to lack of rain on time, now the plants of Bota paddy have started turning yellow and red. If it does not rain on time, then within three to four days the paddy plants will be in danger. Now the paddy crop of the farmers is waiting for rain, so that their thirst can be quenched. Farmers grow Bota crop on 70 to 80 thousand hectares in the district. 70 percent of the farmers of Nagari and Magarlod grow paddy crop in Kharif season by Bota method, which is completely dependent on monsoon. At the same time, 60 percent of the farmers of Dhamtari and Kurud also grow paddy crop by Bota method.
Due to lack of sufficient rain in the region, the worries of such farmers have increased. Here, there is strong sunlight and humidity. On 8th July, the temperature was 32 degrees. The bore pumps of farmers of many villages including farmers Banshi Sahu, Pankaj Sahu, Amrit Lal Devangan have completely stopped working in the initial phase of Kharif season. Due to lack of rain, the ground water level is still the same as in summer. Due to the stoppage of bore pumps, the nursery has also started drying due to lack of irrigation water. Such affected farmers are now waiting for heavy rains to save the paddy crop.
