Kathua, 01 August (HS). Due to lack of proper drainage of water in the railway underpass, the difficulties of people going towards Hatli have increased. Due to the intermittent rain since Thursday morning, the railway underpass built on the road going from Hatli Mor to Mehtabpur, Kalaspur, Maroli Industrial Area, Hatli and dozens of villages got filled with water due to lack of proper drainage. Due to which the traffic was affected while the pedestrians had to pass through the railway track above the underpass.
There is a village named Darshan on this route, for which this is the only route and this is causing great difficulties to the people. The rains have not yet started completely, the underpass has been filled with water and mud in just one rain. This has become a big problem for the passersby. At the same time, the local people told that overloaded vehicles carry straw to a private paper unit located in the industrial area Maroli and the straw falls while passing through the underpass, due to which the water drainage is obstructed. The railway has also not made proper arrangements for water drainage in the underpass. Due to which the underpass gets filled with water due to rain in just one or two hours, the commuters have to face difficulties.
The local people have also appealed to the district administration and the railway department to make proper arrangements for water drainage in the railway underpass located on Hatli Marg, so that no major accident occurs during the rainy season, because due to lack of water drainage, 5 to 6 feet of water fills up in the underpass, which can cause a major accident anytime. School vehicles also pass through this route.
