The landslide occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, due to which people sleeping in their homes did not even get a chance to escape. People are pleading for help over the phone and rescue workers are trying to pull people out of the debris. The bodies are being taken to the morgues of various hospitals for identification and post-mortem. According to officials, the landslide-affected areas include Mundakkai, Churalmala, Attmala and Noolpuja villages. Rescue teams are working continuously to rescue people trapped in the debris. The Indian Army has also joined the rescue operation. Apart from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the state government has deployed police and fire personnel in the affected areas.
