Lucknow, 11 May (HS). Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh Navdeep Rinwa said on Saturday that till May 10, drugs and cash worth Rs 41.90 lakh have been seized.
He said that the Model Code of Conduct is being strictly followed. Under this, the Excise, Police and Flying Squad teams operating in the state have taken action and seized liquor, drugs, precious metals and cash etc. worth Rs 41538.90 lakh till May 10. In this, cash worth Rs 3362.75 lakh, liquor worth Rs 5113.07 lakh, drugs worth Rs 23130.42 lakh, precious metals worth Rs 2270.96 lakh, free gifts worth Rs 4908.13 lakh and other items worth Rs 2753.57 lakh were seized.
He said that on May 10, a total of liquor, drugs and cash etc. worth Rs 456.77 lakh were seized. In a major seizure, cash amounting to Rs 20.50 lakh was seized in Azamgarh Assembly constituency. Apart from this, 110500 grams of drug worth estimated Rs 27.62 lakh was seized in Gyanpur assembly constituency of Bhadohi district.
