How to Apply for Learning Driving License: A driving license is required to drive a motor vehicle. There are different categories of driving licenses for different vehicles. The process of obtaining the proper driving license takes two stages. First a learner driving license is made and then a permanent driving license is made. The minimum age to get a driving license is 18 years.

How to apply for learning driving license?

  • First of all go to https://sarthi.parivahan.gov.in/.
  • After visiting this website, first of all you have to select your state.
  • Then, go to the “Learner License” menu and click on “Apply for New Learner License”.
  • Generate OTP by entering your Aadhar card details and mobile number.
  • Fill the Learner License Application Form and click on Next button to proceed.
  • Submit the Learner's License application fee here and select the test appointment date at the RTO.
  • Visit RTO on the scheduled date with necessary documents (Aadhaar card, application form etc.) and fee slip.

During this process, you will also have to choose whether you want to give the test by going to RTO or want to give the online test sitting at home. If you choose to give the test by going to the RTO, then you will have to go to the RTO on the scheduled date, whereas if you choose the option to give the test online sitting at home, then you will not need to go to the RTO. After passing the test you will get your learner license home.

It is noteworthy that many states of the country (including Uttar Pradesh and Delhi) are conducting online tests for learner's license. This is a service started keeping in mind the convenience of the general public.
