Satna, 15 May (HS). Due to scanty rainfall in Maihar district, the water level goes down during summers and even the urban bodies are facing difficulty in supply of drinking water. For easy supply and availability of drinking water in Maihar municipal area, Collector Rani Batad had instructed Municipality Officer Maihar to restore drinking water supply by identifying alternative water sources.

Chief Municipal Officer of Maihar Municipality Lalji Tamrakar said on Wednesday that the drinking water supply in the city was being affected during the scanty rainfall and falling water level. Water supply was being provided through tankers in the municipal area except on one day and in some wards. A 110 cm diameter pipeline has been laid to bring water from a distance of about 2 kilometers. CMO said that about 40 lakh liters of water is required daily for Maihar Municipality area. The capacity of the filter plant is 20 lakh liters of water. For which supply will be from Imalia mine. 10 lakh liters of water is being supplied from other water sources in the remaining Maihar Municipality area. In this way, it has been possible to solve the problem of water crisis and drinking water in Maihar Municipality area during summers.
