DRDO made the country's lightest bullet proof jacket for soldiers, know its features

India is continuously reaching new heights in the defense sector. Efforts to fulfill the dream of 'self-reliant India' are continuously getting success. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has now written a new chapter for the soldiers who risk their lives for the security of the country. DRDO has developed the country's lightest bullet proof jacket. The Defense Ministry shared this information on Tuesday (April 23).

The jacket has been developed by DRDO's Defense Munitions and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE) based in Kanpur. The jacket was tested at TBRL, Chandigarh. Secretary, R&D, Department of Defense and Chairman, DRDO congratulated DMSRDE for developing light weight bulletproof jacket.

This bulletproof jacket is capable of providing protection against 7.62 X 54 R API ammunition. DRDO's investigation revealed that this jacket has no effect on 6 consecutive shots. The special thing is that the new bullet proof jackets are very light and have been designed in such a way that it will be easy for the security forces to wear them.

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pandey said that the country will not back down from war. Military power is essential to prevent wars, as well as to respond forcefully to attacks and win wars when necessary. He said that in our effort to achieve and maintain hard power, we have to keep in mind our dependence on other countries to meet our defense needs.
