India-China relations: Recently a meeting was held between China and India’s security advisor Ajit Doval to resolve the LAC (Line of Control) issue. On the other hand, China is continuously engaged in occupying India by hatching conspiracies. China has settled 22 villages in Doklam in the last eight years. After 2020, satellite images revealed that China had built eight villages and settlements near the Doklam plateau. China is claiming eight villages near Doklam in the western region of Bhutan. Chinese army posts are also located in many villages. Jivu is the largest village among these 22 villages.
China’s illegal occupation
For the last eight years, China has been building new villages and establishing settlements on the border near Bhutan. Which has become a big cause of concern for India. Due to strengthening of China’s position in Doklam, the security of Siliguri Corridor is at risk. This corridor connects the mainland of India with the north-eastern states. The Ministry of External Affairs has not given any reaction regarding these satellite photos.
Bhutan denied this
Bhutan has denied Chinese colonization despite satellite images of villages built by China on Bhutan’s borders over the past few years. In 2023, former Prime Minister of Bhutan Lot Tshering had said that China has no presence in Bhutan. This is wrong.
Encroachment continues since 2016
According to a report by Robert Barnett, encroachment has been claimed by China since 2016. In 2016, China established the first village in Bhutanese territory. Today 22 villages and hamlets have been populated. It has 2284 houses and more than 7000 people live in it.
