Dr. Shivnarayan received “Shalabh” Memorial Award and Dr. Vandana Gupta received Poonmalata Sinha Memorial Award

Saharsa, 22 April (Hindus). Shashi Sarojini Theater Service Institute organized a memorial felicitation ceremony for litterateurs Harishankar Srivastava “Shalabh” and Punamalata Sinha. Chief guest Land Reforms Deputy Collector Lalit Kumar Singh formally inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. Before this, the guests and poets present were honored by giving them flower bunches, sheets and mementos.

Appreciating such an event by the institute, DCLR Singh said that literature enhances our learning rapidly. He said that litterateur Shalabh ji has lived literature during his lifetime. Many of his research books have been published. Under the direction of theater director Kundan Verma, Akanksha Azad, Chitrakshi Chandri, Prashree Singh, Saanvi Kumari, Swastika Singh enthralled the people with their dance performances.

Litterateur Harishankar Srivastava “Shalabh” Memorial Award was given to the literary service of Dr. Shivnarayan, Patna and Poonmalata Sinha Memorial Award was given to the literary excellence of Dr. Vandana Gupta, Siliguri. Keynote speaker, litterateur Ramchaitanya Dheeraj, while throwing light on the literary life of Shalabh ji, said that poetry writing was his main genre in the initial days. His explosive poetry writing established him on the national stage as a poet. In 1951, his first poetic work “Archana” increased his fame.

Acharya Janakivallabh Shastri wrote in the preface of this book that the poet Shalabh is not one who waves on the waves of sentiments, but is an introvert poet of philosophical nature. Instead of crafting form, contemplation of life seems to be the main goal of his spiritual practice and the basic element of his poetry.

Remembering Poonmalata Sinha, Dr. Vandana Gupta said that while performing difficult tasks like government service and Grahasthashram, her literary and cultural interest made her personality great. The function was conducted by Vandan Verma, Secretary of the Institute.
