According to the ministry, the process of appointing a member of the 16th Finance Commission in place of the President will be started again.
The Finance Ministry, while issuing the notification for the formation of the 16th Finance Commission on January 31, 2024, had appointed four members of the Commission under the chairmanship of Arvind Panagariya. The Central Government had appointed Dr. Niranjan Rajadhyaksha, Executive Director of Earth Global, as a member of the Commission but he has expressed his inability to take up this responsibility due to personal circumstances.
