Kanpur, July 13 (HS). Mango can fulfill up to 40 percent of the daily dietary fiber requirement, which is a powerful protector against heart disease, cancer and cholesterol build-up.

These things were said by home scientist Dr. Nimisha Awasthi on Saturday in a five-day training program on preserved mango products for rural women in village Phanda, organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dilip Nagar, run by Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.

He informed that Indian mangoes come in a variety of shapes and colours and have a wide range of tastes, aromas and flavours. Mango is a special product that certifies high quality and rich nutrient standards. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in mango production with a share of 25.76 per cent and has the highest productivity in 2023-24 (second advance estimate). One mango can meet up to 40 per cent of the daily dietary fibre requirements. He informed that mango is a powerful protector against heart disease, cancer and cholesterol build-up.

He said that this fruit is a storehouse of potassium, beta-carotene and antioxidants. But mango is only a summer fruit, to enjoy its taste throughout the year, its preserved products need to be made.
