DP World distributes 500 cricket kits to grassroots academies in New Delhi

New Delhi, 26 April (HS). DP World, a leading global provider of smart end-to-end supply chain solutions, on Thursday distributed 500 cricket kits to grassroots academies at the Aerocity Ground in Delhi as part of its Beyond Boundaries initiative.

The initiative is part of a global mission to support the development of cricket, delivered via 50 repurposed shipping containers, ensuring grassroots cricket clubs have the kit they need to play the game, Have equipment and facilities.

According to a release from Delhi Capitals, these two latest containers will benefit 500 young players from academies including Bal Bharti and Bal Bhawan in the Delhi region.

The launch event of the latest Beyond Boundaries initiative was attended by Delhi Capitals key players David Warner, Anrich Nortje, Yash Dhull and Poonam Yadav along with head coach Ricky Ponting and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly.

As a partner of the International Cricket Council, DP World had promised to donate 10 kits for every 100 runs scored in a World Cup match. This resulted in a total of 2,500 kits being distributed, of which 1,250 have already been distributed through the Beyond Boundaries Initiative in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Dubai and Johannesburg.

Quoting a Delhi Capitals release, Adhendu Jain, vice president, rail and inland terminals, DP World Subcontinent, said, “In our opinion, sports is for everyone and has a huge positive impact on individuals as well as the communities they interact with. It is connected. Therefore, our commitment to cricket is to ensure that players, especially at the grassroots level, have access to the game. We are dedicated to supporting talent at every opportunity and hence, through our Beyond Borders initiative, we are happy to support the men's and women's teams here in Delhi. We believe that sports can transcend boundaries and initiatives like this will create an environment where all aspiring players can succeed.”
