Doon administration alert regarding forest fire, preparations for monsoon intensified

Dehradun, 26 April (HS). District Magistrate Sonika on Friday held a meeting with the concerned officials at Rishiparna Auditorium regarding forest fire and the upcoming monsoon session and gave necessary instructions.

The District Magistrate instructed the Forest Department officials to keep the fire committee formed at the village level and the village guards active in view of forest fire and to maintain coordination with Mahila Mangal Dals. He said that for mutual coordination, personnel from the Forest Department should be deployed in the disaster control room till the forest fire season. Also instructions were given to purchase safety equipment and dresses for the personnel. The District Magistrate gave instructions to keep QRT and IRT active and send the list of Kur station and QRT to the concerned tehsils. He said that people should also be made aware through groups to prevent incidents like fire.

To stop forest fire, fire department should do mock drill, if equipment is required then demand it immediately.

Immediate action should be taken on receiving information about fire so that the forest fire can be prevented from getting worse and damage to assets and animals can be prevented. He instructed the concerned departments to hold coordination meetings at their level. Also said that the fire department should do a mock drill. If equipment is needed, ask for it immediately.

In view of monsoon, complete channelization-drainage and river dredging work in time bound manner.

In view of the monsoon session 2024, the Municipal Corporation and municipal bodies were instructed to work on war footing by identifying stretch-wise areas along with keeping the drains and drains clean. Also instructions were given to complete river dredging work before monsoon. He said that channelization and drainage work is very important in view of monsoon. It should be completed on time.

Identify old buildings and take action as per rules

He directed the Sub District Magistrates along with the Municipal Corporation, City and civic body officials to identify the derelict buildings in their respective areas and take action as per the rules. The electricity department should identify dilapidated electric poles and take action to replace them. Make sure to get the insulator visible on the electric pole. He instructed the Irrigation Department to be active in view of the disaster and the Public Works Department and NH to install cross barriers on the roads in the hilly areas.
