According to Indian Sanatan tradition and Vedic calendar, Ganesh devotees install Ganpati Bappa in their house for one and a half days, three days, five days, seven days or full ten days depending on their vow and family tradition. Today i.e. 15th September 2026 is the most important day of farewell of one and a half day Ganpati Bappa. Many times, due to busy schedule, family responsibilities or travel, devotees are not able to complete the immersion ritual at the scheduled time in the afternoon. If your noon Visarjan Muhurat has passed, then there is no need to get distracted at all, because in Vedic astrology, there are many very auspicious Choghadiya Muhurats available in the evening and night in which you can bid farewell to Bappa and receive his eternal blessings.
Auspicious Choghadiya Muhurta for evening and night Ganesh immersion: A look at the timetable
According to the calculations of the Vedic calendar, today on September 15, in the first part of the day, morning Muhurta (Char, Labh, Amrit) was active from 12:26 pm to 01:58 pm and afternoon Muhurta (auspicious) was active from 03:31 pm to 05:03 pm. If for some reason you are not able to do the immersion during this period, then evening and night time are the most fruitful times to do the immersion. In the evening, the twilight time will be from 06:35 to 06:59, which is considered very auspicious for any auspicious farewell. It is a mandatory classical rule to worship the Ganesha idol properly before bidding farewell to it. Before starting the immersion ritual, take bath and wear clean and pure clothes. After this, light incense, lamp, incense sticks at the place of worship and offer red sandalwood, Akshat, vermillion, Durva and fresh marigold flowers to Lord Ganesha. Offer God his most favorite food like modak, motichoor laddus and seasonal fruits. After this, together with the entire family, sing the Aarti of Shri Ganesh ji and with folded hands, pray for forgiveness for any mistake or mistake committed during the puja, knowingly or unknowingly. Firstly, one should completely avoid wearing black or extremely dark blue colored clothes on the auspicious occasion of Visarjan, as this color is considered a symbol of mourning and negative energy; Instead of this, wearing yellow, red, orange or white clothes is very auspicious. During the immersion journey, go from home to the river or reservoir shouting praises of Bappa and do not have any kind of anger in your mind or argue with your family members. Consumption of tamasic food, alcohol, onion and garlic should be completely prohibited inside the house during the entire period of Ganesh Utsav. If you are immersing eco-friendly Lord Ganesha in a holy pot or tub at home, then after immersion, do not pour that water in any Tulsi plant but flow it in the roots of any other holy tree like Shami or Peepal.

In Sanatan Dharma, selection of an auspicious time for both the installation and departure of any divine energy is considered mandatory. It is believed that immersion done during inauspicious period or Rahukaal can reduce the full fruit of the puja, whereas bidding farewell to Bappa during Labh, Amrit or auspicious Choghadiya ensures continuous flow of peace, prosperity, intellectual development and positive energy in the house throughout the year. Therefore, if the afternoon time has passed, then make use of the evening twilight or night Labh Choghadiya and with full devotion bid farewell to the destroyer of obstacles with the auspicious chant of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya, Agle Baras Tu Jaldi Aa’.
