Washington: America’s newly elected President Donald Trump has now made preparations to end Daylight Saving Time. Trump said that Daylight Saving Time (DST) is very unfavorable for Americans and is a huge burden on the country. Under DST in the US, clocks are set back one hour each year on the second Sunday of March and forward one hour on the first Sunday of November.
In many countries of the world, days become very short and nights become very long in winter. In the US, local time is changed by 2.00 hours twice every year in March and November. Donald Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday that the Republican Party will do everything possible to end Daylight Saving Time. DST is now an unfavorable and very expensive system for our country.
In January, the Republican Party will gain majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of America on January 20. Trump has appointed Senator Marco Rubio, a staunch supporter of ending daylight savings, as his Secretary of State. For this, he also introduced a bill named Sunshine Protection Act.
Many countries in the US and Europe use daylight saving because they are near the North Pole. In the United States, the time is changed by one hour at 2:00 am local time on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. However, Trump and Republicans argue that moving the clock back again and again is foolish. Because of this, Americans feel a lot of inconvenience and also lose money.
