Indian Americans won the election: The number of Indians in the US Parliament has increased. Six Indian-origin Americans have won the House of Representatives elections. Their number in the current Congress (US Parliament) was five.
All five sitting Indian-origin MPs have been re-elected to the House of Representatives. A total of nine Indians contested the parliamentary election.
Members of Indian origin in the US Parliament are known as the Samosa Caucus, currently its members are Ami Bera, Raja Krishnamurthy, Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal and Thanedar. Dr. Amish Shah has a slight lead over his Republican opponent in Arizona's 1st Congressional District. If he is successful in winning, the number of Indian Americans in the House of Representatives will increase to seven.
Suhas Subramaniam creates history by winning elections from Virginia Indian-American lawyer Suhas Subramaniam has created history by becoming the first person from the community to be elected from Virginia and the entire East Coast. He defeated Mike Clancy of the Republican Party. He is currently a Virginia state senator.
Subramaniam said that I am honored that people have reposed confidence in me so that I can fight the toughest battle and deliver results in Congress. Subramaniam, a former White House advisor to former President Barack Obama, is popular among Indian Americans across the country.
Mr. Thanedar was elected to a second consecutive term from Michigan's 13th Congressional District by Raja Krishnamurthy, who won from Illinois. He won for the first time in 2023. Raja Krishnamurthy has won the 7th Congressional District of Illinois for the fifth consecutive time.
