New Delhi, August 26 (HS). Due to positive signals from the global market, there was a strong bullish environment in the domestic stock market today. Today's trading started strongly. As soon as the market opened, both the Sensex and Nifty indices gained momentum with the support of buying. Nifty was successful in crossing the 25 thousand points level for the first time after August 1. There was also profit booking in the market in between. Despite this, the stock market remained in the green mark continuously. After the whole day's trading, Sensex closed with a gain of 0.75 percent and Nifty with a gain of 0.76 percent.

Today, during the day's trading, there was strong buying in IT, metal, consumer durables and realty sectors. Similarly, the Public Sector Enterprise, Energy and Infrastructure index also closed with gains. However, the BSE Telecommunication index closed in the red today. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE Midcap index closed with a gain of 0.66 percent. Similarly, the Smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.20 percent.

Due to the strength in the market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by about Rs 2.5 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 462.39 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. On the last trading day of last week i.e. Friday, their market capitalization was Rs 459.96 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 2.43 lakh crore from today's trading.

There was active trading in 4,197 shares on the BSE during today's trading. Of these, 2,189 shares closed with a gain while 1,862 shares showed a decline, whereas 146 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,411 shares on the NSE today. Of these, 1,244 shares closed in the green zone after making profits, while 1,167 shares closed in the red zone after incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in the Sensex, 23 shares closed with a gain and 7 shares closed with a decline. While, out of the 50 shares included in the Nifty, 32 shares closed in the green zone and 18 shares closed in the red zone.

The BSE Sensex opened today with a gain of 302.05 points at 81,388.26 points. As soon as the trading started, the index gained momentum due to the support of buying. Shortly after the first hour of trading ended, the index reached 81,824.27 points with a gain of 738.06 points. After this, the index's movement also declined slightly due to profit booking in the market. After the day's buying and selling, the Sensex closed at 81,698.11 points with a gain of 611.90 points.

Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading today with a jump of 82.95 points at 24,906.10 points. As soon as the market opened, the bulls started gaining momentum and this index gained momentum. With the support of continuous buying, this index jumped 220.65 points to reach 25,043.80 points in the first hour of trading. After this, this index also faced a slight decline due to profit booking. After the whole day's trading, Nifty closed at 25,010.60 points with a gain of 187.45 points.

After the whole day of buying and selling, among the big stocks of the stock market, Hindalco Industries 3.90 percent, HCL Technology 3.49 percent, NTPC 3.21 percent, Bajaj Finserv 2.82 percent and ONGC 2.81 percent were included in the list of top 5 gainers of today. On the other hand, Apollo Hospital 1.18 percent, Hero Motocorp 0.76 percent, Adani Ports 0.59 percent, Maruti Suzuki 0.48 percent and Eicher Motors 0.47 percent were included in the list of top 5 losers of today.
