New Delhi, September 20 (HS). The domestic stock market once again witnessed a strong rally on Friday. Both the Sensex and Nifty indices succeeded in reaching new peaks of strength today. Today's trading also started with a new opening record. There was also a slight selling pressure in the initial trade, but in the first hour of trading, buyers started buying all around, due to which the Sensex crossed the 84 thousand points level for the first time. Similarly, the Nifty also crossed the 25,800 points level for the first time today. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a gain of 1.63 percent and the Nifty closed with a gain of 1.48 percent.
During the day's trading today, all the sectoral indices of Bombay Stock Exchange closed in the green with gains. The highest gains were seen in the shares of realty, automobile, capital goods and banking sectors. Similarly, FMCG, metal, power, telecom and consumer durables indices also closed with gains. There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 1.16 percent. Similarly, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 1.37 percent.
Due to the strength in the stock market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 6 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 471.97 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading, whereas on the previous trading day i.e. Thursday, their market capitalization was Rs 465.47 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 6.50 lakh crore from today's trading.
There was active trading in 4,059 shares on BSE during today's trading. Of these, 2,468 shares closed with a gain while 1,482 shares showed a decline and 109 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,456 shares on NSE today. Of these, 1,635 shares closed in the green zone after making profits and 821 shares closed in the red zone after incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in Sensex, 26 shares closed with a gain and 4 shares closed with a decline. Out of the 50 shares included in Nifty, 43 shares closed in the green zone and 7 shares closed in the red zone.
The BSE Sensex opened at 83,603.04 points today, setting a new record of all-time high opening with a gain of 418.24 points. As soon as the market opened, the index fell by more than 415 points from the opening level to 83,187.64 points due to profit booking. After this fall, buyers put their strength in the market, due to which the movement of this index gained momentum. With the support of buying, this index crossed the level of 84,500 points around 1 pm. However, after this, due to selling, this index once again fell sharply, but after a while buying started again in the market, due to which this index once again gained momentum. With the support of buying, shortly before the end of today's trading, this index reached its highest level of 84,694.46 points with a strength of 1,509.66 points. After the full day's trading, the Sensex closed at 84,544.31 points, gaining 1,359.51 points, creating a new all-time high closing record.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading at 25,525.95 points today, jumping 110.15 points and setting a new opening record. As soon as the market opened, due to selling pressure, the index fell by about 100 points from the opening level to 25,426.60 points. After this fall, buyers took over the market, due to which the index crossed the 25,800 point mark after 1 pm. However, after this, there was selling pressure in the market once again, due to which the index fell by about 300 points to the 25,500 point level in just 10 minutes of trading. After this fall, buyers once again started buying from all sides and by buying continuously, this index gained 433.45 points to reach its highest level of 25,849.25 points so far. After a day of buying and selling, Nifty closed at 25,790.95 points, gaining 375.15 points, creating a new record of all-time high closing.
After the day's trading, among the stock market's big stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra 5.48 percent, ICICI Bank 3.60 percent, JSW Steel 3.50 percent, Larsen & Toubro 2.99 percent and Bharti Airtel 2.82 percent were included in the list of top 5 gainers of today. On the other hand, Grasim Industries 2.22 percent, State Bank of India 1.04 percent, Indusind Bank 0.31 percent, TCS 0.26 percent and Bajaj Finance 0.10 percent were included in the list of top 5 losers of today.
