Why does NSG want to open a centre?

According to sources, the government wants to open an NSG centre in Ayodhya so that in case of an emergency, the NSG can immediately reach the nearest religious places. The aim is to keep the centre of security forces in Ayodhya so that the NSG can reach all the areas including Ramnagari, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Mathura as soon as possible.

It is worth noting that at present the security of Ram Mandir is the responsibility of UPSSF and UP Police. This year on 22 January 2024, the inauguration of Ram Mandir and the consecration of Ramlala was done in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After which thousands of devotees are coming to Ayodhya. In that situation, any emergency situation can be dealt with with immediate effect by the NSG center.

What is UPSSF?

Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force i.e. UPSSF. UPSSF has been approved by the Yogi government. So far it has battalions with about 10,000 soldiers in Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Mathura, Saharanpur and Lucknow. For which the selected candidates will have to undergo the prescribed training. Selected candidates should be given training. This is a 9-month training program which includes 6 months of foundation training and 3 months of special training. Special training includes sniper, BDDS, AS check and commando training etc.

What is NSG?

The NSG was formed for anti-terrorism activities. In the year 1984, the Union Cabinet decided to form the NSG. A bill for the NSG was introduced in Parliament in August 1986 and received the President's assent on 22 September 1986 and from that day onwards the National Security Guard (NSG) formally came into existence.
