There is an old belief about snakes in India that if a snake is killed, the image of the person who killed it gets imprinted in its eyes. Later, its female snake takes revenge for the death of its partner. Bollywood films have strengthened this misconception. This is the reason that even today, after killing a snake, its head is completely crushed. Many Bollywood films have been made based on the revenge of Naag-Naagin. In almost all the stories, the snake has been shown taking revenge.

According to a popular legend, a snake and a female snake loved each other very much. They lived together in the forest. One day a woodcutter killed a snake. When the female snake came to know about this, she became very sad. She decided to take revenge on the woodcutter. In the darkness of the night, the snake reached the woodcutter's house and bit him. The woodcutter died in agony. But science tells the exact opposite of the snake's revenge story.

The truth behind the picture formed in the eyes
Dr. Ashish Tripathi, convener of Mission Snake Death Free India, said that the story of revenge by snakes does not fit in any angle according to science. Dr. Ashish Tripathi says that no image of any kind can be stored in the eyes of a snake or a female snake, the story of revenge by snakes is imaginary. There is a scientific reason behind this.

Snakes release pheromones when they die
Dr. Ashish Tripathi told that pheromones are found in the body of snakes or other animals. (Pheromones are chemical signals released by animals) Pheromones are the driving force behind the snake's revenge story. Actually, when a snake is killed, it urinates and releases special pheromones. While alive, pheromones are different and after death, different types of pheromones are released. The snake that groans in pain while dying releases pheromones. After this, when the snake reaches there, it smells the pheromones and guesses that one of our companions has been killed here.

How do pheromones work?
Dr. Ashish Tripathi said that on seeing the pheromones of the dead snake, the fellow cobra or female cobra becomes extremely angry and sets out to take revenge. In such a situation, the female cobra tries to kill whoever comes in front of it by biting him. The reason for this is that the female cobra starts feeling insecure in that area. Due to which she targets the person in front of her.

Evidence does not get destroyed even by burning
Dr. Ashish Tripathi said that after killing a snake or female snake, people usually say that it should be buried or burnt. Even after doing this, pheromones remain at the spot. By smelling it, the snake or female snake comes to know that one of its companions has been killed.
