UIDAI has clarified that the Aadhaar card will not be closed even if it is not updated for 10 years. Earlier the last date for updating the Aadhaar card for free was 14 March, which was extended to 14 June 2024. Due to this extended date, some people got the misconception that the Aadhaar card will be closed after 14 June. But this is absolutely wrong.

The government has extended the last date for updating Aadhaar card information online to June 14, 2024 and during this time this facility is absolutely free. But, if you have to update any information in the Aadhaar card by visiting the Aadhaar service center, then a small fee will have to be paid for this. For example, if you want to add your phone number to your Aadhaar card, then you will have to go to the service center and pay the update fee.

According to UIDAI, Aadhaar card holders need not panic, Aadhaar card will continue to work even if it is not updated for 10 years. Actually, this clarification is being given so that misinformation can be removed and people can be assured that their Aadhaar cards are still valid.

UIDAI said on social media, 'For the benefit of Aadhaar cardholders, the facility of free online uploading of documents has been extended till June 14, 2024. This free service is available only on the myAadhaar portal.

  • UIDAI Open your updated website: https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/
  • Visit this website and click on “Log In” and enter your 12 digit unique Aadhaar number, enter the captcha code that appears.
  • Click on “Send OTP” to receive the One-Time Password on the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. Enter the received OTP.
  • In the 'Services' tab, click on “Aadhaar Update Online”. Click on “Proceed to update Aadhaar” and select the details you want to change.
