Who was Turram Khan?

Turram Khan's real name was Turrebaz Khan. He was born in Begum Bazaar, Hyderabad. There is disagreement regarding his date of birth as not much information is available about his early life. Turram Khan is considered a warrior in history. He played a major role in the first battle of India's first war of independence. You must be aware that the spark of the freedom struggle of 1857 was first ignited in Barrackpore, where Mangal Pandey had started the freedom struggle. The fire of this freedom movement reached Hyderabad where it was led by Turrebaz Khan. He rebelled against the fourth Nizam of Hyderabad and the British.

This battle of Hyderabad is not mentioned in detail in history.

There is not much mention of this battle of Hyderabad in history, but during the freedom struggle, Turebaz had attacked the British Residency. He raised and led an army of 6,000 soldiers against the British. In fact, during the first war of independence, Jamadar Chida Khan of Hyderabad had refused to march towards Delhi. In such a situation, the British fraudulently put him in jail. Therefore, Turrebaz Khan took the responsibility of saving them and attacked the British.

The British fought all night

Turrebaz Khan planned to free Chida Khan from the clutches of the British. In which he attacked the Residency House at night with an army of 500 people. However, Nizan's vizier Salarjung is said to have betrayed Turrebaz Khan and informed the British about the plan in advance. When Turrebaz Khan reached the Residency House the British were already ready with cannons and guns.

Turram Khan did not even estimate the readiness of the British. The British had cannons and guns while Turram Khan and his army had swords! When Turram Khan attacked, in defense the British started firing cannons and guns on his army. In such a situation, Turrebaz Khan faced the British throughout the night despite lack of weapons and soldiers. It is said that the British could not capture them in this war, they escaped from there after defeating such a huge British army.

Turram Khan ran away and hid in the forest and his escape frightened the British government. But a traitor informed the British about his whereabouts and got him arrested. After this Hyderabad Court sentenced him to Kala Pani. But still Turram Khan managed to escape from jail in 1859. After this the British put a reward of 5000 rupees on him but after a few days a traitor Talukdar Mirza Qurban Ali Beg killed him treacherously in the forests of Turpan, but even today Turebaz Khan i.e. Turram Khan is remembered for his bravery and valor. goes .
