- Meat and liquor: Consuming non -vegetarian food and alcohol during Pitru Paksha is considered a sin. It shows a sense of disrespect towards the ancestors and it communicates negative energy in the house.
- Raw grains: In these days raw grains like rice, lentils or flour are not eaten directly. One should always consume food only by cooking food. The food is also offered to the ancestors.
- Masur lentils: Lentil lentils are considered impure, so its consumption is prohibited in Shraddha Paksha. Instead, you can use moong or pigeonpea dal.
- Outside food: It is very important to maintain the purity and purity of the house during Pitru Paksha. Therefore, eating outside food should be avoided in these 15 days.
Apart from food and drink, also keep these rules in mind:
- Keep an atmosphere of peace in the house in the Shraddha Paksha. Avoid fighting.
